Local products are inextricably linked to peoples’ nutritional profile. However, there are factors with an impact on areas needing our support.
In order for a producer or a local company to continue supporting the country’s economy through their work, needs to grow in a healthy environment.
Uncontrolled human activity, however, has led to a climate crisis with widespread disasters and extreme weather phenomena experienced by the inhabitants of Northern Evia and the Peloponnese.
Eleftheria Katsafarou through Make Your Way and Hospitality Ambassadeurs join forces in order to support the Greek producers, hit by the raging fire.
Their goal is to communicate both to the Greek and international public the need to support, today more than ever before, Greek producers and their products.
One of the many ways to support residents and producers in the areas affected by the deadly fires of Northern Evia and the Peloponnese, ravaging these days, is to buy local products of all kinds.
In this way, local businesses are strengthened to cover any issues in their facilities, so that they can continue to offer quality products and jobs to people, who may have lost their home.
To people, who have decided that in addition to work, they do it with true love, enough passion and imaginative creativity.
In these affected areas, there are countless companies and local products depended on summer tourism to make ends meet, since unfortunately, as Greeks we have not yet learned to embrace the Greek standard or non-standard product.
We have not learned to buy Greek tomatoes, onions, potatoes. We have not learned that there are not only the well-known Greek brands of packaged products with fine local products (?) but also small businesses offering “true gems” in their field.
Even now, on the occasion of the deadly fires in the impacted areas, we can change this by purchasing dried figs by Istiaia and honey of Evia.
Most of the beehives of the island are located in Northern Evia.
Istiaia’s fruity wine and the award-winning green olives in Rovies are exceptional.
On the other hand, Ilia is famous for the excellent quality of olive oil.
Not to mention, the relatively new strawberry cultivation, autumn and spring potatoes and of course their worldwide known tomato paste.
All of the above are just a few suggestions from the hundreds of local products that can be found either online or in supermarkets, grocery stores, delicatessen and wine stores.
The impacted areas and their citizens need us.
Buying local products is the least we can do to support them. Let this become a good habit for all small local businesses across the country.
Let us share this message with everyone!
