Origin & identity
In his experienced hands, Ioannis Vatistas, winery’s founder and nowadays his daughter Maria, provides since 1990 one of the finest variety’s expressions in our glass.
With a vineyard of 400 acres stretching out to Aghios Nikolaos, Voion meadow and Pantanassa’s slopes next to Monemvasia, Vatista family invested great love and labor on local Kydonitsa but also on the incospicuous varieties of Petroulianos, Thrapsa, Asproudi, Monemvasia, Smyrneiko, favored by the area’s microclimate.
The continuous endeavor for area’s wine treasures to be elevated and upgraded in quality, led to the acknowledgement and recognition of Vatistas family in Greece and overseas.
Kydonitsa 2019, PDO(Protected designation of Origin)Laconia is a white wine, dry with light lemon color and green layers.
Expressive nose with dominant discreet aromas of white flowers, green apple, pear, citrus, with notes of ripe quince.
The moderate volume in the mouth balances with the refreshing acidity and alcohol(13%Vol) giving a well-structured ensemble of elegance and character.
Food & Wine pairing tips
After being fermented on the fine wine lees for about 6 months, a slight buttery sensation is obtained but mostly a fruity and long lasting aftertaste.
Kydonitsa is harmoniously combined with fresh green salads, seafood, pasta with vegetables sauce, chicken with okra and white creamy cheese.
Enjoy it plain or as an aperitif accompanied by light snacks.
Αging ability for 3 years in good storage conditions.
