Food and Cocktail pairing events accompanied by Tsipouro Tsilili shone granting moments of bliss to the guests, in Marathoupoli of Messinia.

Chef Georgia Koutsoukoualongside the owner and bar manager of The Crog Cocktail Bar, Orestis Kokkinos, lifted off tasting memories in a food and cocktail pairing event, where local flavors were the ultimate protagonists.

In August, during the moonlight, where the sun looks like the day, the journey of flavors continues unabated.

In the rhythm of the Greek summer and under the watchful eye of the starry sky, the themed culinary evenings once again gave the signal to set off a dance of food & cocktail pairings, a song of hymns of the local culture and spirits.

The private Chef Georgia Koutsoukou and the team of the Grog Cocktail bar ‘gathered’ in an otherwise extremely tasty open kitchen & bar event on Monday, 05/08/24 in Marathoupoli, Messinia with Tsipouro Tsililis starring under the masterful execution of recipes of the owner and Bar Manager Orestis Kokkinos, while the tempting burger with al pastor gyros and the tender chicken with the aromatic apricot jam took literally off the taste buds of the guests.

I was born in Kalamata to an excellent mom and dad who, due to the circumstances I will describe, disturbed my taste buds as a child. My father, a sailor, always initiated us to inquisitive flavors after every trip. We asked for a pizza and he made us one with anchovies, a disruption at the very least. My grandfather owned a butcher shop in the central market of Kalamata, my mother was a cashier and my uncles, butchers, spotlessly clean and good looking in white robes, served the customers using best techniques. They sold piglet as seed. Over the years, the butcher’s shop developed into a remarkable ham factory. I was mesmerized by the market itself, walking around and getting to familiarize myself with everyone. Clinging on the wealth of my childhood memories, my travel in cooking arts and flavors soon begun.

The great love of Georgia and Orestis for the region of Messinia, the local flavors that awaken memories act as inexhaustible sources of inspiration and development that are reflected not only in their professional persona, but also in the free expression of their creative personalities.

As Georgia firmly believes, she considers to be in constant education, since the journey of taste is inexhaustible. She travels quite often and has a nosey around in the kitchen. She learns and tastes, respects and contemplates. She does not wish a tawdry life, she wishes dignity instead, being the very first thing anyone can experience , upon joining a family Sunday´s table.

The pirates, who crossed the sea reaching Marathoupoli, the emblematic fishing village of Messinia, which charms with its simplicity, gave us moments of Greek blue magic.

Cheers to the rose colored glasses of life!
