Akriotou Microwinery presents Orivatis, a mediterranean and graceful expression of the Pinot Noir variety.

Orivates is a series of wines, which translates as the “mountaineer”, whose name wants to “declare” the difficult path that one must follow to produce a wine of high level, explains the producer and oenologist Vasiliki Akriotou of Akriotou Microwinery from Plataea, Boeotia.

.

This philosophy is put into practice through its creations that bring to our glass two excellent versions of the Savvatiano variety, a blend rosé from Syrah with Cabernet Franc and the rich in virtues Pinot Noir of our tasting all under the brand name Orivatis, while the collection is completed by two other labels with the name HERMIT.

Wine’s Characteristics

Acriotou Microwinery, Orivatis Red 2019, Variety Pinot Noir

Dry wine, Varietal

Akriotou Microwinery presents Orivatis, a mediterranean and graceful expression of the Pinot Noir variety.
Origin & Identity

The careful selection of mountainous Aigialeia, which at an altitude of 640 to 700 meters hosts the vineyard of the Pinot Noir, makes it a difficult variety in matters of cultivation and winemaking, in combination with the small volume production are the credentials of an excellent wine.

Of course, it could not be otherwise, since the world vineyard has set the bar of quality high, giving us a complex and expressive Pinot Noir outside its homeland of Burgundy. We must not forget that it is one of the three permitted varieties of the Champagne blend.

At Akriotou Microwinery, the harvest and all the production processes of Pinot Noir are done manually. After the alcoholic fermentation that takes place at graduated temperatures and without any passage through a barrel, the wine remains for 4 months with its lees with periodic stirring. The bottle that remarkably closes with stelvin hosts the content for another 4 months.

Wine description

Vivid ruby color.

On the nose, rich aromas of fresh red fruits with cherry, strawberry and gooseberry in the foreground, while notes of leather, bacon and liquorice underline with their presence the multidimensional aromatic character.

Dry in the mouth, with a medium volume body which is also a characteristic of the variety’s typicality.

The fine aromas of the nose dominate with all their freshness on the palate while the balanced acidity and the soft tannins blend harmoniously giving the stigma of a well-structured and delicious wine.

The aftertaste is of medium duration but it is enough to leave in the taste memory its fruity and cool imprint.

Harmony with Food

The complex and elegant red wines also seek appropriate treatment.

Give it time to breathe through a large glass at a temperature of 15c and start your relationship with it initially without food.

Then you can pass to the dining table , starting with pasta with tuna and tomato sauce.

For the main course, enjoy a juicy beef fillet cooked slowly in a saucepan with red wine sauce.

Casserole dishes are among the finest choices while it acquires the qualifications to accompany a premium grilled meat as long as it is not rich in fat.

But the joy of pleasure can not be absent from everyday’s life. A pizza with prosciutto, rucola and white mushrooms will match perfectly with a glass of Orivatis Pinot Noir.

You can store it in your cellar for the next three years but it is better to enjoy it fresh.
