At the entrance of Nemea, your journey will internalize an identity and a fascinating wine agenda enabling you to discover a history that goes back 70 years in viticulture and the wine tradition. In an amphitheater setting, in the largest viticultural zone of Greece, divided into 3 zones offering different characteristics, Karamitsos family winery, with state of the art infrastructures in the region, creates the most welcoming and lucullian welcome for every visitor.
Your visit will have it all! An estate with a breathtaking view at the Virgin of the Rocks with the vineyards stretching out in front of you, wine tourism experience comes to a head. From the guided tour to the wine tasting itself, as well as any type of event that unfolds indoors or outdoors, your tour takes place in time, from past to present. Karamitsos family owns over 150 acres in various Nemea vineyards with annual production reaching 30,000 to 40,000 bottles.
The vines are spread on the plain of Nemea at an altitude of 220-300 meters and on the slopes of the village of “Koutsi”, at an altitude of 400-550 meters. The main production is Agiorgitiko (PDO Nemea) but also native varieties such as Assyrtiko, Roditis, Malagouzia and Savatiano. The vineyards are also expressively dressed with international Syrah & Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. All together were designed in a way to ensure small acre yields and this to excel in terms of wine quality.
The wine agenda counts 9 labels as well as 2 completely premium ones that are worth savoring from different varieties, offering quality wines that you will definitely be courting to acquire for your cellar.
With respect for nature, love and passion for the product, the winery officially opened its doors to the public at the new facilities in 2016, with its wines at present being awarded both in Greece and abroad. At the interior of the unique facilities where traditional architecture dominates, your tour starts with a wide view of the family narrative in viticulture and winemaking. Subsequently and equally enrapturing is the production unit where history of winemaking and aging complete a singular narrative. Wine tasting comes through 3 packages of the winery’s wine tourism program, exciting the palate comprising the white labels Poseidon, Two Lions White, Tree of Life, the rosés Aphrodite, Spirit of Pink and the reds Sporos, Riza, Two Lions Red and Niki.
Each wine “lands” in your glass with the terroir of the area displaying all its comparative advantages and the storytelling behind the brand.
