Local raw materials glared at the renewed Corinthian treasures recalled for the 3rd year connecting culture and agri-food in Ancient Corinth.

In a magnificent setting that is none other than the atrium of the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth, the Corinthian Land Treasures that measured their 3rd edition dynamically communicated their message, goal and of course vision.

For another year in one of the most renowned archaeological sites, the culinary event which took place on July 14th, brought to the fore the local raw materials of the region  through exceptionally stimulating speeches as well as an experiential and authentic Live Cooking show in absolute interaction with the audience.

A culinary event that, from its birth as a project until nowadays, aims to bring the past closer to the present. Locality has the first say with local producers and fresh raw materials being the absolute ‘headliners’. And all this in a historical place with a long-lasting tale that is inextricably linked to the local society, economy and culture. Let us not omit that the “treasure groves” of a region unravel their indelible story from the distant past to the modern present.

The Corinthian Treasures are an inspiration of Katerina Karsioti, Publicist – Tour Guide in wine and agritourism sector, while the organization was carried out by the Professional Association of Ancient Corinth (SEAK) and the Municipality of Corinth. For the 3rd year, an archaeological site with an extensive history opened its doors to a culinary event and this thanks to the support of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Corinth and its supervisor Mrs. Panagiota Kasimi.

It is worth mentioning that the event is under the auspices of the Peloponnese Region, the General Confederation of Professional Craft Merchants of Greece (GSEVEE), the Trade and Entrepreneurship Federation of Peloponnese, Southwest Greece, Zakynthos, Cephalonia & Ithaca (OEESP) and the Hellenic Confederation of Trade & Entrepreneurship as well as with the Support of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Corinth, the American School of Excavations of Corinth, the Chamber of Corinth, Corinthian Food and Mitsopoulos Farm. Great sponsor in this whole project was Niko Helm Hellas.

Distinguished speakers wandered the audience with key topics & a Live Cooking show curated by Chef Dina Nikolaou

In a singular atmospheric climate at the alleys of the traditional village and with Acrocorinth as a background, a large number of people visited Ancient Corinth to watch the event. The opening for this year took place in the atrium of the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth with remarkable speeches that excited the audience.

The supervisor of the Ephorate of Antiquities, Panagiota Kasimi, was appointed for an important and new project concerning “Administrative”, Despina Zevkili, Director of one of the most emblematic journalistic media, in Athinorama pointed out a great ‘toolbox’ on how a region can become a culinary destination and the ways that local products will take the place they deserve, George Loukas, distinguished sommelier and founder of the Genius in Gastronomy, recalled the enormous value of the Agiorgitiko variety, giving special aspects of its profile as well as its development in the future, and finally the well-known Chef Dina Nikolaou spoke about the extroversion of the raw materials and how each country will succeed these to become its instantaneous ambassadors.

The second part of the “Corinthian Treasures” took place right outside the Archaeological Site with an exhibition of local producers that did not lack anything but also a Live Cooking show curated by Chef Dina Nikolaou accompanied by Chef Giannis Mpratsolias.

With recipes that literally lifted off senses and included the local raw materials of the region, with associations preparing alongside flavorful  dishes with a traditional touch, with local businesses serving up goodies exciting the palate , all of them interacting with the audience and chef to highlight every single product with origins from Corinth and of course with an amazing bar station with cocktails exclusively made of wine and tsipouro.

After all, the most essential thing is that in every event, in every organization, to take the opportunity and honour a region’s worth, reminiscent of the beauty and flavors that surround us. Such as  the local “treasure groves” , which within lie the foundations of the local philosophy, people and our economy.
