25 years ago in Karystos, Euboea, Evaggelia and her husband Peter decided to establish a small amateur beekeeping unit for their personal use.
Their love for nature, the bee, the various beneficial uses of honey but also the warmth with which the Greek public embraced their product, led their steps pushing them to attend beekeeping seminars and forming collaborations with professionals in the field.
In 2020, they sealed their successful course in the best possible way and the products “Meli Karystou Evaggelia Keki” won the Gold Taste Award at the institution of Best Greek Food Awards.

Honey Varieties
Combined with its beneficial properties, the special and enriched taste, honey is an excellent material for the daily diet, finding multiple applications in confectionery and cooking.
Famous for its rich flowering in aromatic flowers and herbs, Karystos in Euboea is an earthly paradise for the producer where by transporting the bees, receives different types of honey depending on the season, the miracle of life.
Flower Honey
Flower honey comes from flowers and nectar of spring plants and wildflowers.
Rich in enzymes, vitamins, amino acids, trace elements and sugars, this honey is harvested in late May.
It is light in color with an excellent aroma giving energy and endurance while helping the proper functioning of the digestive system.
Thyme Honey
Thyme honey is one of the best honey varieties available.
It is produced towards the end of July and is harvested in the beehives that are transported to the coastal areas of Karystos and Cavo Doro.
It has a slim and light color appearance.
There are many benefits to the health of every human being with some of them including the stimulation of the immune and respiratory system as well as the protection it offers to various diseases (according to scientific studies it has antimicrobial and antiseptic action).
TIP: It is raw and crystallizes in 6-18 months.
Heather Honey
Its collection takes place in the area of Mount Ochi, rich in flowering purple heather (purple Kisouri).
With a special red-copper color, it has a characteristic taste with aromatic notes.
One of the most nutritious honeys with a strong earthy aroma of Heather flowers.
Rich in minerals, proteins, amino acids, enzymes and B vitamins.
Heather Honey or Kisouri is in the process of being recognized as a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI).
Koumaria Honey(international name: bitter honey)
It is collected in the mountains of Cavo Doro, in the wider area of Karystos from the end of December to the beginning of January.
This variety has a dark copper color with grayish shades. Its aroma is moderate to strong.
It crystallizes immediately due to the season, essentially a few days after its collection.
Its taste is subtle, giving it a special and distinct character.
Bitter honey is considered gourmet.
It has a high content of phenols and antioxidant activity.
Its hemostatic and anti-cancer effects are legendary.
It is rich in trace elements and vitamins, giving stimulation to the body.
It contains fewer calories than other honeys. It was especially known in antiquity as a diuretic and antiseptic.
