The experiences offered by the beautiful main village of Vytina in mountainous Arcadia
A fairytale mountain settlement built at an altitude of 1,033 meters, on Mount Mainalon stands out for the traditional architecture of the houses and public buildings, for the large central square – where everything happens – but also for the mesmerizing, dense forest that surrounds it . Vytina is an undisputed top autumn and winter destination, a mountainous region that awakens emotions and memories, surrounding the visitor with an aura of homely warmth and coziness, while the escape to nature in which you will encounter countless pines, firs and chestnuts is a wonderful opportunity for exploration and wandering.
According to the prevailing opinion, its name derives from the word “Vythos” because it was originally built in a basin between hills. It is included in one of the most valuable mountain resorts of the Peloponnese and more broadly in Greece. The settlement of Vytina has no more than 650 permanent residents, however, from September onwards it is bustling with life. The fireplaces are lit and the restaurants are buzzing with travelers eager to taste the best local products (meat is undeniably prominent on every menu), after first enjoying a long walk on wonderful and scenic hiking trails in one of the most beautiful forests of Peloponnese.
